I’m going to start an oil painting. I have never used oil before. I have used acrylic. Any beginners basic advice?
let yourself go with the flow. oil painting is about taking the time to paint. it takes about 2-3 weeks to dry, during which time you can do a lot. it’s impossible to layer fast like with acrylics. you must enjoy its pace to enjoy the medium. an image will start looking somewhat like the drawing but it always end up looking different yet more beautiful somehow. it’s almost like watching a plant, a pet or a child grow…
